QUARTERLY PRAYER LETTER

July 2008

Dear Friends in Christ,

Greetings again in the name of our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is such a privilege to share with you once again how the Lord is using A Look at the Book Ministries to carry out His work.  What a blessing it is to again report to you that The Lord of Glory is still working in the lives of His people.

The last quarter has been very busy for us as we have had the privilege to preach in eight different Churches and a Rescue Mission.  Some we filled in for the pastors who were away; at others we presented the work through the presentation of slides and testimony; and in one we preached a five service revival.  On April 15, 2008 we preached in the evening chapel service at the Durham Rescue Mission of Durham, NC and saw one precious soul profess Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.   Also we praise God for another church that has taken us on with monthly support.  Please pray that others will open their doors to our ministry.

We are planning another Mission Trip to Nigeria in early November 2008.  Please pray that the needed funds to cover the cost of this trip will come in with no problems.  Pastors please try to schedule us to come to your church and present our work before this trip takes place.  In May God provided us with a nice projector and screen so that we may show slides of our most recent mission trip.

During the month of May our ministry was able to send $200.00 to Nigeria for the purchase of KJV Bibles.  Bibles can now be purchased in Nigeria for $2.00 each so we were able to provide 100 Bibles to those in need of God’s Word.  If you would like to have a part in this project just send your gift of any amount to “A Look at the Book” and designate it “Bibles” and every cent will go for the purchase of Bibles.  Our ministry pays Western Union transfer fee when we send money to Nigeria.

Also we are blessed to report that progress has been made on the building for the Grove Baptist Church in Ayen Village, Nigeria.  During the last quarter we had another $1350.00 come in toward this project and it has been sent to Nigeria and used to purchase more building materials.  The building will be 34X60 feet.  But right now work has halted because we have had no more funds come in.  It is the goal of Brother Godstime to get the roof on the building before the rainy season begins.  As of right now a total of $2600.00 of the needed $10,500.00 has been given and spent on this project.  One Church we visited recently asked if there was something that their Vacation Bible School could do toward the purchase of something for the church by receiving an offering each night.  Pastor Friday of the Grove Baptist Church said that they would need plastic lawn chairs to use instead of pews and the cost in US funds is $10.00 each.  They use chairs because they can carry them outside for seating when they have open air services.  We are still waiting on some other money that has been pledged toward the building project to come in.

Please make the following items a part of your daily prayer time:
Funds to complete the church building and the equipment needed in the church.
Funds to purchase more Bibles.
Funds for the upcoming Mission Trip.
Our health (we are going to have to get our right knee replaced in the future).
More open doors.

One final note: On May 11, 2008 (Mothers Day) my mother Gertrude Neary of Charleston, W.Va. went to be with the Lord.  She was 86 years of age.  I miss her greatly but I know she is in a better place.  Mother was such a help to my ministry both prayerfully and financially.  In fact she designated a portion of what little money that she had left to our ministry.

God Bless

Bro. Doug
