QUARTERLY PRAYER LETTER

JULY 2011

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

These are the words spoken by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:17.  When one gets saved the first thing they need given to them is a copy of God’s Holy Word, The Bible.  But in Nigeria, a country of more than 150 million people, there is simply not enough Bibles to go around.  In the earlier part of our mission work to Nigeria we helped gather hundreds of Bibles that were shipped directly to Nigeria via the U.S. Post Office at a rate of around $22.00 per “M” bag which held around 30 paperback Bibles.  Unfortunately, a few years ago, the rates became so high that it now costs around $60.00 just to ship about 12-14 Bibles.

We have great news!  A retired pastor in Virginia is preparing to ship a container to Brother Godstime, our national pastor friend in Nigeria, around the first of September.  We are trying to collect all of the KJV Bibles we can along with Sunday School literature, Children’s materials, and any other good Bible Commentaries you may have so we can include these items in this container.  If your church would like to help by holding a drive to gather up new or used KJV Bibles, I would be glad to come and get these from you or you can send these to me and I will see that they are added to this container.  We would need to receive these by the end of August 2011.  You can also help by providing financial support to buy Bibles.  I can order Bibles from Bibles by the Case and have them shipped to the Virginia location.  A case of twenty KJV Bibles with 8.2 print type can be purchased for $74.00 per case. That’s only $3.70 per Bible.  I took two suitcases of these Bibles with me to Nigeria last November.  There is also a great need for Giant Print Bibles for the elderly believers.  Giant Print Bibles cost so much more than regular print Bibles.  So please pray about helping us with this part of the project.  Any KJV New Testaments that you might have would be helpful as well.  We take these and give them to the smaller children.

Since our last prayer letter, the Lord had been very good to us allowing us to have good health and continue our ministry in all phases.  We are now preparing for another Mission Trip to Nigeria; hoping to depart on Nov. 3, 2011 and return on Nov. 21, 2011.

This time we are planning on spending one week with Bro. Godstime Evbota in Benin City, which will include dedication of the Grove Baptist Church in the Nigerian Bush Village of Ayen.  Then we plan on spending a second week with Bro. Thomas Adesoye in the city of Uyo which is located in the Southeastern Nigerian State of Adwa Ibon.  We have gotten to know Bro. Adesoye through some friends in West Virginia.  In fact we carried some materials to him on our mission trip to Nigeria last year for his Mission Board in Dayton, TN meeting him at the Lagos airport.  We praise God for another door being opened in this country where people have a desire to hear the Gospel message and the believers want to be taught more from the Word of God. Please pray that the necessary funds will come in for the expenses of this trip.

I would count it a great privilege to come to your church and tell about our ministry and show a slide presentation.  God is beginning to show us other areas He wants us to be a part of and we want to follow the leadership of the Lord.

In closing please make the following requests a part of your prayer life:

·         KJV Bibles both regular and giant print

·         Necessary funds for the upcoming Nigerian mission trip

·         More open doors to share our mission burden

·         More supporting churches (right now we only have seven)

·         Grove Baptist Church as there are still small things that are to be done to the building
