QUARTERLY PRAYER LETTER
April 2009

Dear Friends in Christ,

“For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations” (Ps. 100:5)

As we begin the second quarter of the year 2009 we have much to be thankful for.  The Lord has been so good to us here at a Look at the Book.

The first quarter of 2009 saw us being able to preach in five churches and tell of the work that God has called us to do.  We have also just completed another year of teaching at the Greensboro Bible Institute (this being our twentieth year there).  Also we had the privilege to again have a part in the annual Alamance Baptist Missions Conference.  We are already scheduled to be in four churches during this second quarter and would love to come to your church if we have not already been there.

The work on the Grove Baptist Church Building right now has stopped because of a lack of funds.  The estimated funds needed to complete it now are between $6,000.00-7,000.00US.  Right now the US Dollar is at one of its highest exchange rates in Nigeria.  Today it was listed at 145 Nigerian Naira to one US Dollar.  But when the value of the Dollar goes up so does the price of goods and labor.  It is the desire of Brother Godstime Evbota, my contact in Nigeria that I wait until I raise the money to complete the building before I return again to Nigeria.  That way I can oversee the work and also have a better knowledge of the exchange rate and the cost of goods and labor.  When I applied for a Nigerian Visa last fall the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, DC granted me a multiple visit Visa which is good until late September 2009.  It would be wonderful if the needed funds were to come in by then so I would not have to go through the application process again.  If your church would like to have a part in this project just designate your gift for the Grove Baptist Church Project and every cent of it will go for that project.

There still remains a need for KJV Bibles in Nigeria.  The cost of shipping from the US is very high but we can purchase the Paperback Bibles for around $2.35US.  If you would like to have a part in purchasing Bibles just designate your gift “Bibles” and your entire gift will go for that project.  When we transfer funds to Nigeria we send the whole amount designated and our ministry covers the Western Union Transfer Fees.

Still the greatest need for the people of Nigeria is that many souls will hear the Gospel and come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.  Many in Nigeria are religiously lost, following an assortment of confusing doctrines.  When I was there last fall I also saw the need to go to the many villages in the Bush that have no church or Gospel witness.

We are also thankful that two more churches have started supporting us monthly.  This now makes seven churches that stand behind us with their financial support.  Our health continues to improve with no more flare-ups of Malaria (it could re-occur at anytime).  So please keep us in your prayers.

In closing please pray for the following:

>More open doors to share the burden that God has given us for the people of Nigeria

>More churches to take us on monthly

>The needed funds to complete the Grove Baptist Church

>Bibles so that all that need a copy of God’s Word can have one

>Our health that we continue to improve (our immune system is still low)

>Brother Godstime Evbota that his needs will be met

Again thank you so much for your prayers and friendship as we labor together for His Glory
